Asbestos testing labs

Asbestos surveys include bulk testing to determine if asbestos is present. Samples must be analyzed by a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accredited laboratory.

The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) provides a directory for verifying the NVLAP accreditation status of laboratories here. Click the ‘Search Directory’ button.

The Washington State Dept. of Ecology’s provides an on-line laboratory search (https://apps.ecology.wa.gov/laboratorysearch/SearchAnalyte.aspx) for laboratories capable of asbestos analysis.
