Old wood stoves are inefficient and produce a lot of smoke\u2014both indoors and outdoors. New devices heat much cleaner and more efficiently. Other benefits of upgrading include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

509-477-4727<\/a> ext. 115<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n If you\u2019re a homeowner in Spokane County (incorporated or unincorporated) and you have an installed, operational older wood stove (free-standing or inserted into the firebox), you might qualify to save on an upgrade:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your existing wood stove\/insert must be non-EPA certified, or an EPA certified device that is at least 20 years old.<\/span> The device must be installed and operational. Hearth fireplaces do not qualify as an insert for this program. <\/strong>Photo examples are provided below. If you qualify, you’ll receive a voucher and a list of businesses that are participating. You present the voucher to the business of your choice from the list, and they will discount your replacement (purchase and installation must both be provided by the business) by the following amount:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wood – Wood = $1,000 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wood to pellet = $1,400<\/p>\n\n\n\n *Wood to gas = $1,800<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wood to ductless, \u201cmini-split\u201d heat pump = $2,500<\/p>\n\n\n\n *grant funding requirement: If an applicant wants to replace their old wood stove\/insert with a gas stove\/insert, the applicant must attest on the application form that gas is the most cost-effective option for them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Homemade devices are not certifed. Manufactured stoves and inserts started being tested for certification by EPA in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Look for a plate\/tag on the device and a manufactured date. Refer to the original paperwork if you have it. If still unsure, contact the manufacturer or call us and we may be able to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSave up to $2,500* on a new device when replacing your old wood heating device<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
