Seasonal fire danger burn restrictions are in effect beginning on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, until further notice.
Restrictions on outdoor burning can be enacted by the County Building Official and City and County Fire Officials. Though it varies year-to-year, restrictions are typically in place by July and remain in place into October. Spokane Clean Air does not issue restrictions based on fire danger, but we help communicate information about the restrictions, and our field staff can enforce the restrictions.
Fire officials share factors that contribute to elevated fire danger, including:
- High temperatures
- A lack of significant precipitation
- High wind and gust speeds
Restrictions apply to all open burning and most recreational fires. Unauthorized open burning and unauthorized recreational fires, except devices with spark arrestors, are restricted until this order is lifted or unless otherwise permitted by law enforcement or authorized agencies.
